Please give Meleah a warm welcome as she shares her story of becoming an assistant instructor at ROC:
I’m Meleah Gorton, an Assistant Instructor at ROC Martial Arts Academy. My journey into martial arts began in August 2017. Influenced by my family and friends who were already practicing, I decided to give it a shot and quickly found my passion.
Chinese Kenpo captured my interest because it strikes a perfect balance between practicality and art. My favorite form is Short 3, a form that I’ve taken to a tournament and won, marking one of my proudest moments.
Teaching martial arts is incredibly fulfilling for me. I love helping people and witnessing their confidence grow through their training. It’s rewarding to see the positive impact martial arts can have on someone’s life.
A little about me: my favorite subjects are math and science, which often surprises people. Also, I come from a large family with four brothers and only one sister.
I hold a 1st degree black belt in Chinese Kenpo, earned here at ROC Martial Arts, and I’m currently working towards a college degree at our local community college. When I’m not at the dojo, I enjoy reading, drawing, crocheting, and playing video games. Growing up in Hustonville, KY, I’ve always had a strong sense of community, which is something I bring to my teaching at ROC Martial Arts Academy.
